Written By Kayli Gurley Presented in partnership with Keep the Spark Alive Produced by The Balladeers and The Culture House The Balladeer Theatre Company is an exciting new venture in the professional theatre world. Playwright Kayli Slayden used her personal experiences to highlight the low-lights of living with a mental illness and to spread the message that you are not alone in your struggles. "The Brightest It’s Ever Been is a raw, powerful portrait of a teenager at war with her own mind. Jamie seems like a high-achieving student on the outside, but inside, she battles a relentless voice of anxiety that tells her she’s never enough. As the pressure mounts and her inner critic grows louder, Jamie spirals toward a breaking point—until a single moment of connection sparks the will to fight back. Unflinching, urgent, and ultimately hopeful, this gripping drama dives headfirst into the realities of mental illness, self-harm, and the quiet bravery it takes to ask for help." There are very intense scenes in this play that may not be suitable for all audiences due to themes of mental illness and suicide being present.
