DANCE ACADEMY DRESS CODE

Dance training clothes are meant to keep the body warm, allow free movement, as well as give the teacher the ability to see the placement of the student’s limbs, muscle work, and proper positioning. Without this ability, the student will learn bad habits and patterns which could lead to injury. At the same time, clothes must not be distracting, immodest, nor hinder proper movement.

Pre-Dance & Ballet/Tap Combo

Girls: Any leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair neatly swept into a bun. Boys: Any solid color T-shirt, black sweats, black ballet shoes.

Ballet

Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair neatly swept into a bun. Wrap around skirts may be worn during center work with teachers permission for levels 2, 3, & 4. Black or pink leg warmers allowed during cold season.

Boys: White tight fitting T-shirt, black tights, black ballet shoes.

Modern

Girls: Black leotard, black tights, no shoes required.

Boys: Any solid color tight fitting T-shirt, black tights, no shoes.

Jazz

Girls: Black leotard, black jazz pants or tights, jazz oxford shoes, hair neatly bound in pony tail or bun. No bare midriff allowed. Please wear a sports bra. Students may wear form fitting t-shirts (no loose fitting t-shirts).

Boys: T-shirt, black jazz pants, jazz shoes .

Tap

Girls: Same as jazz except for appropriate tap oxford shoes.

Boys: Black, tight fitting T-shirt, black sweat pants with elastic angles, and oxford tap shoes.

Hip Hop

Baggy or comfortable tops and pants. No midriff allowed. No black soled shoes allowed on floor.

Adult Classes

Dress modestly. No midriff allowed.
