FAIL: With Flying Colors
To all my people, all my influence, to my children, and those who love me, let me drop this nugget in your hands.
I have a theme for this school year...simply put...I want you to FAIL!
I want you to completely and utterly...FAIL.
I want you to with everything you have and are; with every fiber in your body; with every ounce of power and energy in your being...I want you to FAIL.
YOU MUST FAIL!
#1. You must FIGHT!
For whatever goals you set for yourself and for whatever dreams you wake up to every morning, you must fight for them. For whatever good relationships you may have or start...you must fight for them. They are the very essence of our existence.
#2. You must live an ADVENTURE!
For every story you've ever read, for every hero you've ever dreamed of being, for every person that looks up to you...you must live your adventure. No longer can you afford to let life happen to you. No longer can you afford to WAIT for something to happen or someone to serve you a perfect life on a silver platter - adventures are an ACTION sport. Get out there and live your life. No one knows (except GOD) what lies around the corners. Only you can find out. And...AND...your true potential and ability can only be found after you round those corners. Accept the challenge and find out who you really are and what you're really made of.
#3. You must realize that you are IMPERFECT. LISTEN TO ME!!!
YOU WERE NOT MADE TO "GO IT" ALONE. YOU WERE NOT MADE TO "MAKE IT" ON YOUR OWN. YOU WERE NOT MADE TO "DO IT" BY YOURSELF.
We are imperfect beings. We miss the mark. We make mistakes. We get hurt. We hurt each other. We fall down. We look silly. We look stupid. We need help. We need grace. We need patience. We need mercy. We need each other. So the next time you yell at someone for making a mistake...think of all the mistakes you've made and will probably make and shut your mouth, count to ten, think of something pleasant, encouraging or sympathetic to say, and then bless that person with some edifying words of beauty. Because you need it too.
Lose your ego because there's nothing about you that's special except those things that have been blessed by GOD, and those things that have been shared with others in humility.
#4. You must LOVE!
The first and best way to show someone you respect them, care for them, and genuinely love them is by taking action. Love-serve someone. As much as we need each other, we've got no time for "It's about me" syndrome. Yes, we may be hurting...painfully hurting, but the best thing you can do to help heal that pain is to love on someone else. Remember this:
The gift of Love is to the receiver but the power of Love is to the giver.
When you give of yourself selflessly a miraculous thing happens. God's unending love flows through you (that is if you know GOD). HIS endless supply of it comes roaring out like a tsunami. You get blessed while you're blessing someone else. "Two birds with one stone." But there's more happening then that. God is actually healing/mending the broken things in your own heart...AND...He is also mending the broken things in the heart of the person you're serving or giving to.
A supernatural surgery is taking place. A transplant is happening atthe same time. God is taking out the non-functioning parts and replacing them with new functioning parts. He's taking out the bad heart and replacing it with a new heart. He's literally healing cancers, and blood disorders, and other life hindering diseases. He bringing wealth to the poor and humility to the proud.
When you love someone else, you bring to your being (and theirs) power and might and courage.
So let this be your calling. Let it be your mantra or psalm. FAIL with all your might, and all your power, and all your being and I guarantee your life story will take a turn for the more fulfilling.
Be incredibly blessed this school year and don't forget...FAIL with flying colors! -Marc
