Bonjour!

We are excited to spend this year with all of you. The Culture House has become, as some students will say, a second home away from home. It is a community where I am thrilled to see students growing and learning together while forging life long friendships.

The School of Dance is blessed to have some of the finest teachers in Kansas City. Each teacher is  here to encourage and challenge each student to become their best at whatever level they are at.

MEET LAURA

Laura was 13 years old and had been dancing for 9 years.  She always loved music and would dance around the house as a young toddler.  As grew up and her body developed, she didn’t have the skinny little ballerina body that so many in the dance world said was the standard.  But surely that wouldn’t matter for a 7 or eight year old who just loves to dance in pretty costumes?  Years went by and instead of growing in her enjoyment of dance and the arts she became more despondent.  We met Laura when she was 13.  Her grades were gradually slipping lower and lower.  She had no interest in her appearance and didn’t have many friends.  In a last ditch effort, knowing that she had always loved dance, her mother brought her to us. (Read More)

A Word From Marc Wayne

To all my people, all my influence, to my children, and those who love me, let me drop this nugget in your hands.

I have a theme for this school year...simply put...I want you to FAIL!

Why Ask For More?
The arts are much more than just fun "extra" activities for kids. Participation in the arts opens up children's worlds and minds, and offers them the skills they need for a bright future. And chances are, your kids are not getting enough art, in or out of school. (Read more here)

  • Start up Costume Construction Days- Be sure to sign up for your 3 days.  These fun work days have a wonderful "quilting bee" like atmosphere and are a great way to get to know more of the many great families we have here at TCH.  Your participation helps make sure all those costumes are done and that our kids look great out there on stage.  Don't worry, you don't have to know how to sew.
  • January 30th -Dance School Parent Meeting- Mark your Calendar now for this mandatory meeting.  We will be covering a lot of important information about your child's participation in the Lion King Production.  Every year we have changes and you will want to know what to expect.
  • New Year Eve Gala- Dance schools Jr. companies will be performing as well as Storling and Maxxas.
