Faculty include Störling Dance Theater members and guest teachers Randall Flinn (Ad Deum Dance Theater- Houston), and Misty Rascon Smith (Word In Motion – Los Angeles)
CORE CLASSES: Ballet, Modern, Jazz.
ELECTIVE CLASSES: Tap, Improvisation, Worship Dance, Hip Hop, Street, Tribal Funk, House, Worship, Pilates and more. In addition, we have a daily Worship time and Bible Study and evenings are filled with relevant discussion about the Arts, and performances.
PLACEMENT CLASS
Sunday, July 6th at 4:00- 5:30 pm, we will have a placement class to confirm the appropriate level of the students; beginner, intermediate& advanced. Each level follows a designated course of study for main classes, while each student can pick their own electives. The Placement class will be followed by the “First Class” of the week (5:30-6:30).
ELECTIVES
The Electives are set for the student to try different classes within and outside their preferred style. The student can take any class they desire.
DRESS CODE
Everyone will need proper dance attire, a pair of Ballet and Jazz shoes. Tap, Pointe, and character shoes are needed for the appropriate electives. Please dress modestly. No Midriff allowed.
LOCATION AND HOUSING
The Störling Dance Intensive will be held at The Culture House, in Olathe, KS. There are several restaurants, hotels and inns within walking distance Some Culture House families have expressed their desire to open their homes to our out of state students.
CHECK IN
Registration will be at The Culture House and begin at 3pm on Sunday July 6th.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
If you are flying in, we would prefer that you come in Sunday by 2 pm and leave on Saturday after noon. The airport is the Kansas International Airport in Missouri (MCI) and about 45 minute from The Culture House. The Culture House provides a shuttle service to and from for $40. Please make sure you give us your arrival/departure time in advance. Thank you!
STUDENT SHOWCASE & CONCERTS
Students have the opportunity to perform their own pieces on Tuesday July 8th at 7:00 pm evening.
It is the highlight of the Week! Make sure you sign up for it.
Other concert events include Störling Dance Theater, Maxxas Dance Theatre, Faculty Members, and performance groups
